All eyes were on Danica Patrick Sunday at the Daytona 500.

Jimmy Johnson ultimately took top prize, while Patrick placed eighth- the highest finish ever for a female driver at the race.

Dale Earnhardt, Jr. took second for the third time in four years.

But, safety was also on everyone's mind after just the day prior, almost 30 fans were injured when a wreck sent debris flying through the speedway's protective fence.

Spectators in the line of fire suffered burns and other injuries and some were taken to local hospitals.
