The main thoroughfares may be clear in Davenport, but it may still take a while for crews to get to some of the side streets in town.

Crews had already started to plow on the city's residential streets as of 7 a.m. DPW made quick work of some of the main streets in town like Brady too. Crews had cleaned that off entirely by 3 a.m. Friday.

Crews still have not reached some of the lesser traveled roads in town. 5th Street just north of downtown will probably not be plowed until 10 a.m. That is when the first shift workers wrap up and the second shift workers come in.

There were not only public snow plows working all morning long, but private snow plow drivers were working just as hard. News Eight saw just as many private snow plow drivers out as public ones Friday morning.

There were also men in four wheelers out working on the sidewalks of businesses. One worker was out from about midnight to 5 a.m. on 53rd Street clearing off sidewalks in his four-wheeler.

"It's cold, but you know, you gotta dress for it," four wheel driver Paul Lira said. "You just have to get the snow ya know?"

The Iowa Department of Transportation has also cleared many of its highway and interstates. I-80, U.S. 67 and U.s 61 were all partly covered with snow as of 7:15 a.m. They had been completely covered in snow earlier in the morning.
