On Valentine’s Day, Carlos and Barbara Landeros were headed out for a romantic dinner when they spotted a camera bag near the Golden Gate Bridge, with no owner in sight.
NBC Bay Area reports that the couple stayed with the bag, hoping the owner would return. After 45 minutes of waiting, the couple looked inside and discovered over $11,000 in cash, credit cards, and camera equipment.
Rather than keep their dinner plans, the Landeros headed to San Francisco’s Hall of Justice to turn in the money.
Police used the credit cards to track down the owner, a vacationing tourist from China.
The owner received his bag one day before leaving the United States. He thanked the Landeros by phone and sent them a reward check in the mail.
