The quick change from rain to bitter cold and snow left a layer of ice on area roads.

The Illinois Department of Transportation said I-74 from Galesburg to Moline was 50% covered in ice Tuesday morning, and US 34 from Galesburg to Monmouth was 25% covered in ice.
The Iowa Department of Transportation reported US 61 in Scott County was partially covered in ice before driving into Davenport. It also says that US 67 in Clinton County is still mostly covered in ice.
