It may seem like news surrounding Davenport's casino plans has quieted down, but city leaders tells News 8 they've been very busy the last three weeks.

Late Tuesday, the city added an agenda item to its Committee of the Whole meeting. It will ask its council to enter into a Hold Harmless Agreement with the DCIC or the casino board. A Hold Harmless Agreement would prevent the DCIC from being liable of any damages that could occur when the city buys the Rhythm City Casino.

There are not any major votes expected at Wednesday's city council meeting, but aldermen will give an update on where they're at in their plans to build a land-based casino.

On January 30th, 2013, aldermen voted to start negotiations with Ingenus Management. The Ingenus proposal includes a casino and hotel in the Interstate 280/Interstate 80 corridor.

Since then, a few aldermen have been conducting cost/benefit analysis on several other sites along Interstate 80. A couple of aldermen have been talking with other developers who also submitted proposals on the idea of a smaller casino in the downtown area. Meanwhile, the DCIC has been conducting criminal and financial background checks on Ingenus and its people.

More details on all the above items are expected at Wednesday's city council meeting. WQAD will have another update right here on WQAD.com and on News 8 at 10pm.
