Deadlines approach for FAFSA completion

Help is available for the completion of your FAFSA.

Deadlines are approaching for the Free Application for Federal Student Aid, better known as FAFSA.

FAFSA is an application that takes a family's financial information as a way to determine which students get aid or scholarships. Applicants who have not yet filed taxes for this year should not worry; last years taxes can be used as an estimate.

Applications are available on the FAFSA website. Federal, state, and school FAFSA deadlines differ, individual deadlines can be found here.

For those who are having trouble navigating through the application, trained volunteers are available this week as a part of an event called College Goal Sunday.

According to event organizers, the help is free and information is available on how to apply, state-wide student services, and admission requirements.

For a list of College Goal Sunday locations and a list of materials to bring, visit College Goal Sunday’s website.

A completed FAFSA is a requirement for many colleges.
