Students from a local school will join some of the best scientists in the world to show off their LEGO skills.

Five members of the LEGO League at Trinity Lutheran School in Davenport, Iowa will travel to St. Louis for this year’s First LEGO League World Festival in April.

To qualify for the competition, the team was required to make a robot and then another creation of their choice.  They chose a long-handled shower puff.

The kids advanced to participate at the World Festival after winning the Iowa championship.  The World Festival hosts about 85 First LEGO League teams each year.

"We're trying to build a new robot. We don't know if we'll have enough time but we're trying so we want to do as much as we can to improve for worlds because at worlds the competition is going to be pretty tough,” said Rachel Eckert.

They will participate in the World Festival along with teams from 43 states, including Illinois, and 46 countries.
