Monopoly fans can say “goodbye” to the iron and “hello” to the cat.

The company held an online vote to allow fans to help save their favorite game piece.  The piece with the fewest votes would be retired and replaced with one of five new tokens, also chosen by online voters.

The proposed new game pieces were a robot, helicopter, guitar, diamond ring and cat.

Voting ended February 5.   Results were posted on the Monopoly Facebook page.

In the days leading up to the final votes, the shoe, iron and wheelbarrow were the pieces in greatest jeopardy of being cut from the iconic game.
