Beloved local teacher loses battle with cancer

Families in the Pleasant Valley School District are remembering Crystal Neuhaus after she lost her fight against leukemia.

Crystal Neuhaus taught at Riverdale Heights Elementary for more than ten years.

She took this school year off for treatment of leukemia after she was diagnosed in April 2012.

Students held several fundraisers for Crystal’s family, including a blood drive and an orange-out at a high school volleyball game.

Crystal Neuhaus passed away Monday, February 4, 2013.  She leaves behind her husband, who is a counselor in the Pleasant Valley School District, and two children.

Visitation and funeral arrangements were pending at Weerts Funeral Home in Davenport.
