Illinois State Police say they’ll strictly enforce traffic violations on Super Bowl weekend, with a special emphasis on what they call the “FATAL 4” violations.
The FATAL 4 violations are driving under the influence, speeding, distracted driving and seat belt violations.
Four people died in Illinois as a result of alcohol-related crashes on Super Bowl Sunday last year.
State law says drivers and all passengers are required by law to wear a properly-adjusted and fastened seat belt. Violators face a $25 fine plus court costs.
Troopers in Illinois wrote more than 1,000 citations for those violations during Super Bowl weekend last year.
