Local man busted with 100+ pounds of marijuana gets 10-year sentence

Police said a Davenport, Iowa man who was caught delivering ten pounds of marijuana had another 100 pounds of marijuana at his house.

Jonathan Lamont Morning, 34, was arrested in Davenport while he was delivering ten pounds of marijuana January 27, 2012.

Police said after they arrested Morning, they found another 100 pounds of marijuana and more than $10,000 in cash in his home.

Investigators said he was involved in an interstate marijuana trafficking conspiracy with Earl Buckner, also of Davenport.  Buckner was sentenced in April 2012 to five years in prison.

Morning was sentenced in federal court Friday, February 2, 2013 to ten years in prison.  He will serve five years of supervised release after the prison term, and he was ordered to forfeit the cash seized from his home.
