Up to 75 new IT or information technology jobs could be coming to the Quad Cities in the next month. Rock Island based Vista International held a job fair for those who are looking for work.
Nathan Haire has always had minimum wage jobs here and there, but is looking for a career.
“I don’t think the Quad City has been hit that hard by the economy but a job openings with require skills, yes it’s kind of hard to find those,” says Nathan.
When he heard about Vista’s job fair he thought it would be a perfect opportunity.
“I was incredibly excited. I have skills in technologies so decided to check it out,” says Nathan.
He’s applying for their video conference teams, just one of the 75 job positions the company is hiring for.
“We’ve had a tremendous turnout so far, we’re excited we’ve had so many people and we’re looking forward to seeing more this afternoon,” says Teresa Johnston, communication director for Vista.
The company employs 348 employees worldwide including 108 at the Rock Island Arsenal, which is one reason why Nathan is interested, “Vista is a large company. I mean they have places all over the world. This will give me a chance to travel to Germany, Kuwait something like that.”
Teresa says they’ve already seen potential hires and says the Quad Cities can use the jobs, “It’s an exciting time for our company and the quad cities to be able to offer this amount of jobs.
