Trinity Regional Health Systems will announce Thursday the plans to build a 90,000 square foot, 3 story expansion of its heart center and emergency department. The 61.3 million dollar construction project will be located on the front of the hospital.
The addition is designed to improve a patient’s experience and accommodate increased demand. Trinity says the expansion is needed to the rapidly increasing demand of cardiac, emergency and psychiatric care units.
The project will be the largest project in the Rock Island location’s history.
Trinity’s Board of Directors say they are committed to hiring local companies and workers to build the project to create local jobs.
The start of the construction will be pending routine approval from the state of Illinois.
