Firefighters again battled bitter cold to fight a local fire – this time in Colona, Illinois.
Smoke poured from windows of a house in the 900 block of Sixth Street as firefighters arrived there at about 11:30 a.m. Thursday, January 24, 2013.
The temperature was 11 degrees.
A mail carrier passing by the home was the first to spot the fire.
Firefighters said no one was home at the time of the fire. No injuries were reported.
The cause of the blaze remained under investigation. The house is considered to be a total loss.
