Silvis area suffers another power outage

For the second time in three days, hundreds of residents in and around Silvis, Illinois were without electricity in frigid weather.

For the second time in three days, hundreds of residents in and around Silvis, Illinois were without electricity in frigid weather.

MidAmerican Energy reported about 1,700 customers were without power at 10 a.m. Wednesday, January 23, 2013.  More than 1,400 of those outages were in Silvis and about 230 customers were without electricity in Moline. 

The temperature at 10 a.m. was 17 degrees.

The number of outages in that area was just over 1,000 by about 10:20 a.m.  Just before 11 a.m., the number was about 900 without power.  By noon, electricity had been restored to all but about 50 of the customers in the outage area.

A MidAmerican spokesperson said an animal caused more than 1,900 customers to lose electricity Monday morning, January 21.  Most of those outages were in Silvis and Carbon Cliff.

More than 4,700 MidAmerican customers lost electricity in and around Silvis on January 10.  That outage was attributed to a contracting crew working near Illini hospital in Silvis.
