Area businesses are asked to be on the lookout for anyone trying to spend silver dollars, fifty-cent pieces and two-dollar bills.

The Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce issued a warning to its member businesses after the Knox County Sheriff’s department told them the currency could be stolen.

An undisclosed amount of money, which includes a collection of less-common denominations, was taken during a theft at a Warren County, Illinois home Monday, January 21, 2013.

“If your business or other businesses have received a large payment using these forms of currency, or have any knowledge of those who have, please alert y our local jurisdiction in order to aid in the investigation,” said the statement from the Galesburg Chamber.
