Iowa sex offender caught in Illinois pleads guilty

An Iowa man faces up to 50 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

An Iowa man faces up to 50 years in prison after he pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse.

WHO-TV reports James Beaudrie will be required to serve 75% of his sentence after he pleaded guilty to three counts of first-degree sexual abuse. 

U.S. Marshals searched for Beaudrie after his car was found abandoned at a bus station in Salt Lake City, Utah.   Police received tips in seven states as they searched for Beaudrie.  He was later found hiding under a stairwell at a Chicago apartment complex where is mother was believed to live. 

Beaudrie’s wife Kijua was sentenced to 30 years in prison after she pleaded guilty to three counts of child neglect.  Prosecutors say she knew about James’ abuse of their children but did not stop it.

James Beaudrie pleaded guilty at a pretrial conference Tuesday, January 22, 2013.  He was scheduled to go to trial January 28.
