Convicted murderer Nicholas Sheley was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole in a Whiteside County courtroom.
The sentence was handed down Wednesday morning, January 16, 2013.
In November 2012, Sheley was found guilty on all counts for the 2008 murder of 93-year-old Russel Reed.
In addition to life in prison for the murder, Sheley was also sentenced to 25.5 years in prison for home invasion and 15 years in prison for burglary.
Sheley reportedly planned to ask for a new trial, claiming he could not get a fair trial in Whiteside County.
