An Illinois man and two of his sons died from exposure to rain and sub-freezing temperatures during a family camping trip.

David Decareaux, 36, and his sons Dominic, 10, and Grant, 8,  were on a weekend camping trip near Bushy Creek Lodge in Reynolds County, Missouri when they went for a hike Saturday afternoon, January 12, 2013.

A storm moved in quickly, bringing heavy rain and a sudden temperature drop of about 40 degrees.  David, Dominic and Grant were not prepared for the weather.

When they didn’t return, searchers began looking for them.  A searcher found them Sunday morning, January 13.

They leave behind wife and mother, Sarah Decareaux, and three siblings ages eleven, 4 and 2.  The family is from Millstadt, Illinois, located southeast of St. Louis.
