Police: Social media helped us find theft suspects

Two people were arrested and charged in connection with several incidents of wallets stolen from retail store break rooms.

Police think the pair stole employee wallets from break rooms at Dollar General stores in Morrison, Fulton and Port Byron.

Days after police released information about the thefts, police said they executed search warrants in rural Thomson, Illinois and arrested two people then.

Steven Sato, 32 and Julie Korotkov, 37, both of Chicago, were arrested January 8, 2013.  They are each charged with felony burglary.

Police said the combination of media coverage, social media and investigative work led to the warrants and arrests.

Sato and Korotkov were held in the Whiteside County Jail in lieu of $200,000 bond each.
