Credit cards stolen in store break room thefts

Police are searching for two people they think are connected to break room thefts at several area Dollar General stores.

In all cases, one suspect distracted employees while another went into the store’s break room and stole wallets belonging to store employees.  Credit cards in those stolen wallets were later used at other businesses in the Quad Cities area and in Clinton, Iowa.

Images of two suspects were captured by surveillance cameras at businesses where the stolen credit cards were used.

The most recent theft happened just before 5 p.m. Thursday, January 3, 2013 at the Dollar General store at 633 East Lincolnway in Morrison, Illinois.

Police say that crime may be connected to similar burglaries at the Port Byron Dollar General at 1100 N. High Street that same day and at the Fulton Dollar General at 1200 17th Street on December 31, 2012.

Anyone with information about the burglaries is asked to contact Morrison Police at (815) 772-7659 or Whiteside County Crime Stoppers at (877) 625-7867.  Crime Stoppers offers a cash reward of up to $1,000 for information that leads to an arrest, and you can remain anonymous.
