Two people arrested in South Dakota are believed to be suspects in a burglary, vehicle theft and failed robbery attempt in eastern Iowa.

Jeffrey Alan Wurr, 31, of Atalissa, Iowa and Shasta Lee Joy, 28, of Tipton were jailed in South Dakota when arrest warrants were issued for them in connection with a December 20, 2012 failed robbery attempt at the Pilot Truck Stop in Atalissa.

They didn’t get any money or merchandise then, and witnesses reported seeing the suspects leave in a white full-size pickup truck.

Police said that truck was one of two vehicles stolen in a separate incident.  Wurr and Joy were also wanted in connection with a break-in that happened in the West Branch area.

A statement from the Cedar County, Iowa Sheriff’s Office said Wurr and Joy were “currently in custody in the State of South Dakota and will be transferred back to Iowa pending extradition proceedings.”
