More than 150 new laws will go into effect next year in Illinois.

Employers will no longer be able to demand access to employee's social media accounts, such as Facebook.

Parents who allow underage drinking will face stricter penalties for drinking not just in their homes, but also on property under their control like a cabin or barn.

Relatives who help a fugitive run from police will face criminal charges. Previously, they were exempt from prosecution.

Also in 2013, there will be several changes to the state's Firearms Owner Identification Program.

Anyone convicted of a domestic violence misdemeanor and those found to be mentally ill will not be issued FOID cards or they will have their cards revoked.
