An Illinois man is accused of stealing unopened Christmas gifts from two homes and putting them under his own tree to give to family and friends.

Gregory Cook, 42, of Cicero, Illinois was arrested Wednesday, December 19, 2012.   He was charged with two counts of residential burglary in connection with break-ins at two homes in Riverside in early December.  He allegedly took credit cards, unopened Christmas gifts and even a ceiling fan.

Police said when they arrested him they found the stolen fan had been installed a bedroom in Cook’s home.  Cook is accused of using the stolen credit cards to shop at Home Depot stores.  He allegedly re-wrapped some of the stolen gifts and put them under his own  Christmas tree; others were exchanged for cash or other merchandise.

Cook reportedly has eight prior burglary convictions.
