Several water main leaks in the overnight hours in Rock Island have residents experiencing low water pressure Thursday morning.
Overnight, the city of Rock Island has to deal with multiple watermain leaks, which have created a massive loss of water. Rock Island Public Works has reported that the five water towers serving the neighborhoods east of 11st Street and south of 7th Avenue are nearly drained of water. Repair crews are there quickly fixing the problem. Customers living in the area will have low water pressure until the towers can be refilled.
Public works director, Robert Hawes says residents in that area could experience low water pressure for up to 24 hours.
