"Closed" signs hung on many doors around the area Tuesday, but one local business counts the holiday among its top five busiest days of the year.

"Christmas here at Harris Pizza is kind of like the Super Bowl for us. It's extremely busy, a lot of family traditions, people thanking us for being open, solving their Christmas cooking needs or failures," said Harris general manager Ryan Mosley.

A steady flow of customers starts at 11 a.m., and when 3 p.m. hits, all bets are off.

"For the first-year employees that have never been through a Christmas, they're kind of in shell-shock mode when it becomes as busy as it becomes," said Mosley.

Employees, though, say they find ways to bring some holiday fun to the extra work.

"I mean, I'd rather be home with my family, but you know, I guess I've got my Harris family here," said cook Eddie Lira.

So what brings folks to the table, even on a Christmas afternoon?

"It's just one of those things that you grow up with. Generations grow up with it, my parents grew up with it," said customer Dave Derudder, as he snuck in a pre- Christmas dinner meal.

Proving that in the pizza business, it truly is the most wonderful time of the year.
