Some families got an early Christmas present at the airport Saturday.

The Patriot Guard Riders were on duty welcoming home our nation’s heroes today with their families.

The group has made it a Christmas tradition to scan passengers from all incoming flight and honor our servicemen and women as they travel home for the holidays.

They've had the honor of witnessing many heartfelt reunions.

Davenport

The holiday came early for a group of people who need some Christmas cheer.

The homeless and needy received a free meal and gifts from Santa courtesy of The Friendly House in Davenport.

The organization's been around for 100 years, assisting individuals and entire families in order to help them get back on their feet.

Organizers say the event is just one way they try and help give back this time of year.

"Just trying to help as many homeless people or those working parents who just need that little extra help having a meal," said Angela Wilson, a volunteer.

This is the first year for the Christmas dinner.
