People are coming together across the country, including the Quad Cities, to show their condolences for the victims of the Sandy Hook Elementary shooting.
People all over the country are mourning the lives that were taken Friday at Sandy Hook Elementary in Newtown, Connecticut. Vigils are being held across the country and communities are finding ways to show their condolences.
"We'll be one of the many communities throughout the country who will be showing some support,” says Trimble Funeral home owner, Eric Trimble.
Although it happened miles away, he say’s we all are residents of Newtown, Connecticut, “Everyone is affected by the events in Newtown, whether they were in the school or the community in the state or in the country."
Trimble has created a way for the Quad Cities to show their support. People can stop by and sign a condolence book. With just a few clicks of the mouse people can also go to their website and light a virtual candle or write in their guestbook.
The funeral home is also encouraging kids to draw or color pictures that they will then put in a scrapbook. Even though it’s not much it’s the small things that count.
"We all as caring people have a need to do something and yet so many miles away, there's nothing we can physically do but this is something maybe we can emotionally help them,” says Trimble.
