The Connecticut shooting in which more than 20 people were shot and killed has many parents not only wondering how to discuss the subject with their children, but also wondering if their kids are safe at school.

Safety experts are trying to reassure parents that kids will be safe.

"Parents need to remember that the first thing they should do is to send their children to school," said Kenneth Trump, President of National School Safety and Security Services.

"Monday will be the safest day you could ever be in a school in this country because there's going to be a heightened awareness and heightened security measures."

Psychologists say parents need to explain the situation in a developmentally appropriate way and that you don't need to explain everything. But, they say, you should be prepared for whatever questions they may ask.
