A traffic stop ended much happier than it began for a man pulled over by police.

KTVT reports Hayden Carlo, 25, told the officer who pulled him over that he couldn’t offer an excuse for the expired registration sticker for which he was stopped.

Carlo told the officer he simply didn’t have the money, and he made the choice to feed his kids instead of getting the vehicle registration updated.

The officer wrote Carlo a ticket and, without a word, included a $100 bill when he handed over the citation.

Carlo’s grandfather was so moved he wrote a letter to the Plano, Texas Police Department.

The officer, who wants to remain anonymous, told his co-workers “this man needed it more than him, and it was the right thing to do.”

“He helped me out when I needed it and I appreciate that. I’ll never forget that man,” Carlo says. “It definitely restored my faith in God.”
