People from all over the U.S. and around the world have rallied to send Christmas cards to a nine-year-old boy who has cystic fibrosis.

Dalton Dingus of Salersville, Kentucky was recently allowed to go home from the hospital so he could spend an early Christmas with his family there.  Dalton’s illness has progressed to stage four cystic fibrosis.

Efforts have spread online to show Dalton support by sending him Christmas cards.  As of Tuesday, Dalton had received more than 37,000 Christmas cards.

A Facebook page dedicated to “Cards for Dalton” asks those who send a card to include their city and state so Dalton can see how far support for him reaches.

Thousands of people have liked the “Dalton’s Destroyers” Facebook page dedicated to cystic fibrosis awareness.

Snopes says the Christmas card drive is the real deal.
