UPDATE: Davenport death reclassified as homicide

A homicide investigation is underway in Davenport after a body was found in a farm field off Utah Avenue and Telegraph Road early Saturday.

A homicide investigation is underway in Davenport after a body was found in a farm field off Utah Avenue and Telegraph Road early Saturday.

Police released more details on the case Tuesday afternoon, including the strange circumstances that led them to discover the body of Robby Ray Kohn.

Just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, a Scott County Deputy came across a vehicle in the farm field entrance and saw a person run from it. That person was taken in for questioning and charged with operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated, but was not involved in Kohn's death. The driver, Chase Bromwell, was simply intoxicated and had accidentally run over the body.

An autopsy showed Kohn had been killed at the scene, and the body had been lying in the field for more than 24 hours. Police are not yet releasing the cause of death while they continue the investigation.

Kohn, 41, was a Davenport resident with no permanent address. He had not been reported missing.

Davenport Police are confident they will soon make an arrest in the case. They confirmed they are pursuing certain suspects and are no longer looking for the public's help.
