An Oskaloosa, Iowa man whose wife allegedly helped him escape from the Wapello County Jail is back in custody and his wife now also faces charges.

Curtis Bunnell, 38, was reportedly shackled and handcuffed when he escaped as he and other prisoners were being moved between the jail to the Wapello County Courthouse at about 11 a.m. Monday, December 10, 2012.  His 27-year-old wife, Latisha, was reportedly waiting in a running car.  When Curtis dove into the car, Latisha reportedly sped away.

The couple was reportedly captured at about 1 a.m. Tuesday, December 11 at a home in Oskaloosa.

Court records confirm Curtis had been jailed in lieu of $25,000 cash-only bond after he was charged November 13, 2012 with first-degree robbery.   He had appeared at a bond review hearing just before his alleged escape.   He is now also charged with felony escape, and he pleaded not guilty at his first appearance.

Latisha was also charged in connection with Curtis’ escape.  She was held in the Wapello County Jail in lieu of $5,000 cash-only bond.
