An Iowa woman faces multiple counts of animal neglect after more than a dozen dead cats were found in her home.

Dawn Williams, 42, of Storm Lake, Iowa was arrested Saturday, December 1, 2012.

Police were called to investigate a possible burglary at a house in the 600 block of Geneva Street after a passerby reported an open window and cut screen on the house.

What they found inside was a large amount of feces and waste,  and the skeletal remains of 15 cats.

Police said Williams locked 15 cats inside the house and abandoned the animals and the house about six months ago.

Online jail records indicate Williams pleaded guilty to the animal neglect charges.

Williams was released a few hours after being booked into the Buena Vista County Jail.
