Moline students given new pair of shoes thanks to local club

Some younger Moline students have a reason to run a little faster.

Some younger Moline students have a reason to run a little faster. Over a hundred kids at Moline’s Jefferson Early Childhood Center received a new pair of tennis shoes yesterday morning thanks to the Moline Breakfast Optimist Club.

Members of the club were on hand to help fit a few children with their new shoes, and to see the difference their donations make.

“Well you can tell by the look on their face because when we put that shoe on, they have a smile that goes from ear to ear. So you know it`s all worthwhile,” said club member Dave Glanz.

This is an annual event for the Moline Optimist Club that uses fundraising and member donations to cover the cost of the shoes.
