Police said a man dropped the shoplifted items and ran when he was caught stealing from a local Walmart.
Sterling Police were called to the Super Walmart at 4115 East Lincolnway just before noon Monday, November 26, 2012. Store employees said Dustin Lindsley, 25, was leaving the store with items for which he had not paid.
When a store employee approached him outside the store, Lindsley reportedly dropped the stolen items and fled in a gold minivan.
Police found the vehicle and Lindsley inside it a couple of hours later in Rock Falls.
Lindsley was arrested and charged with felony burglary and misdemeanor retail theft.
Lindsley was held in the Whiteside County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bond.
