DAVENPORT - Shoppers hit the retail stores Thursday night looking for the best deals possible.

Around 7:15 Thursday evening, about 300 people lined outside the Toys R Us store on Kimberly Road and Brady Street. Toys R Us opened its doors at 8 Thursday evening. K-Mart, Wal-Mart, and Sears did as well.

The people at the front of the line at Toys R Us said they waited in line since 3 Thursday afternoon. Shoppers at the Best Buy in Moline were seen outside of its doors earlier in the week.

"I just think it's fun," shopper Nikki Mallen said. "We do it every year, so it's fun just to go with my mom and my sister in-law and just get some good deals and get ready for Christmas."

Most of the people News 8 talked to said the Thursday night shopping did not put a dent into their Thanksgiving schedules. Nonetheless, some said they were drug out to the stores by their spouses.

"I'd rather be at home bowling, or watching a movie," shopper Peter Merrell said. "But I have to get squeakies, and that's the truth...squeakies."

Toys R Us is open until 10 p.m. Friday. Wal-Mart, Target, and Sears are also expected to be open all day Friday as well.
