A group dedicated to “taking back Black Friday” says we could all spend that day doing something more meaningful than holiday shopping.

Block Friday is all about seizing an important chance to spend quality time with friends and loved ones.  A small reminder to be mindful on this day,” their website says.

Block Friday is the brain child of Holstee, an online shop that sells a variety of unique gift products.  Last year, the shop owners announced they would be offline to allow their employees to celebrate Thanksgiving with their families.

This year, they are inviting others to join their “movement” to support Block Friday.
