Employees at three area businesses are accused of selling alcoholic beverages to a minor.
The charges came as a result of Alcohol Countermeasure Enforcement observers visited nine businesses in Henry County, Illinois the evening of Thursday, November 8, 2012.
Police said employees at three of these businesses sold alcoholic beverages to a minor: BJ’s at 526 First Avenue in Colona; Country Store at 12705 county Road 2 in Geneseo and Fareway #58-1 at 540 Pritchard Drive in Geneseo. The three employees were each cited for misdemeanor unlawful delivery of alcoholic liquor to a minor.
Employees at the other six businesses checked that night did not sell to a minor after asking for identification. Those businesses were commended by Illinois State Police for their conduct. Four businesses in Kewanee that are commended are Sullivan Foods ion Tenney Street, Walmart on Tenney Street, Express Lane Gas & Food Mart on Main Street and Kewanee Liquor & Tobacco on South Street. Police also commended Cenex on Chicago Street in Geneseo and Shell on Cleveland road in Colona.
