Property owners found human remains Monday while cleaning the basement of their Iowa home.
Radio Iowa reported the skeletal remains found in a Sac City home are probably those of the former homeowner.
Mark Koster, 58, disappeared in July 2009. Investigators found his clothes and belongings, including a vehicle, at the house but apparently were unable to locate Koster.
Now, police say all signs indicate the remains that were found Monday, November 5, 2012 are those of Koster. An autopsy will be performed to try to identify the remains.
No one had lived in the house since Koster disappeared. It was sold to new owners in May 2012.
Sac City is in northwest Iowa.
