Crash kills Port Byron woman

A 21-year-old woman died when the car she drove overturned in a crash near Port Byron, Illinois.

The wreck was reported just before 1 a.m. Sunday, November 4, 2012.

Police said a 2006 Nissan was northbound in the 5500 block of 230th Street N. when the driver lost control after going around a curve.  The vehicle went into a ditch on the right side of the road where it overturned and landed upside-down.

The driver, who was from Port Byron, was killed.

Her passenger, a 27-year-old man from Bettendorf, Iowa, was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Police withheld the names of the people involved until their families were notified. 

No other vehicles were involved in the crash.
