For the second time in a week, an Iowa police officer was shot by a robbery suspect.

A Marshalltown Police officer was shot in the leg Friday, November 2, 2012 as he ran after two people suspected of robbing Lennox Employees Credit Union at about 9:30 a.m.

The officer returned fire and shot one of the suspects in the hip.  Both suspects were captured.

Police said both people who were shot had non-life-threatening injuries.

Bank robbery suspects are also accused of shooting at police who pursued them in Frederika, Iowa. Two men were arrested after they allegedly robbed a bank in Maynard on Tuesday, October 30.  One of the men reportedly shot at police as they tried to get away.  Iowa Trooper Mark Domino was shot in the arm and Sumner Police Chief Dennis Cain suffered three bullet wounds.

The suspects in that incident, 24-year-old Jeremiah Mumford and 19-year-old William Clayton, were captured that same evening.
