Illinois heating assistance program opens enrollment

Open enrollment for LIHEAP, the Illinois home heating assistance program, opened Thursday, November 1, 2012.

The Low Income Energy Assistance Program makes home heating bill payments for qualifying Illinois residents.  A combination of federal and state funds support the program.

Priority enrollment for seniors and disabled resident began September 1, and for households with children under five years of age October 1.  Open enrollment began November 1.

Customers are served until funding is gone.  Applications are accepted on a first-come, first-served basis.
