A man running across the U.S. cut through the Quad Cities Tuesday, en route to the east coast from San Francisco.
Doug Masiuk is attempting to become the first Type 1 Diabetic to run across the country.
He stops at hospitals, camps, and schools along his route. His goal is to spread his message to everyone, especially diabetics, about overcoming adversity.
"It's just showing a lot of diabetic kids out there that it's just diabetes," said Doug, "It's not the end of the world, and If I can do this, you tell me what's wrong."
Masiuk was diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes at age three, and since then he's built himself up to running thirty miles a day.
Much of Doug's journey is made possible by donations through his website, onerun.org.
He hopes to end his trek in New York City in early December.
