Record numbers, both in Scott County and Rock Island County have already voted ahead of next week’s election
According to the Rock Island County Clerk’s Office, nearly 14,000 people have either turned in absentee ballots or voted early in person. This putting the county in line to reach 20,000 early votes by election day, 30 % of the expected total voter turnout.
In Scott County, 37,700 hundred voters have already casted their ballot to date which is 7000 more than this time in 2008. The Scott County auditor’s office mailed out an additional 1,100 absentee ballots on Monday, just a week before the election.
Auditor Roxanna Moritz says though the numbers are up for early votes, those heading to the polls on Election Day should still expect long lines.
The last day to early vote in November 3rd.
