Police said what started as a traffic violation ended with a man hit by a car, a woman shot by police and a car crashed into a house.
Savanna, Illinois Police reportedly tried to stop a car for a traffic violation on Route 84 just after 4 a.m. Wednesday, October 24, 2012. Police said the car stopped three miles south of Savanna.
A male driver and a female passenger were in the suspect car. The woman was later identified ad 21-year-old Allana Hill whose last known residence was Gardner, Kansas.
Savanna Police said when their officer got the driver into custody, Hill drove away in the car. When she returned to the scene of the traffic stop, the car reportedly struck the man who was under arrest.
A statement from Savanna Police said, “The officer shot at the vehicle, striking the vehicle and the female driver.”
Hill allegedly drove away again, and crashed into a house in rural Carroll County, Illinois a short time later. When police arrived at the scene of that crash, they also found a baby in the back seat of Hill’s vehicle.
All three adults involved in the incident were taken to an area hospital.
The police officer was released from the hospital and placed on administrative leave until state police complete their investigation of the incident. His name was not released.
Police said the man arrested at the beginning of the traffic stop was still hospitalized for injuries he suffered when he was hit by the car. His name was also not released.
Hill was released from the hospital and she was held in the Carroll County, Illinois Jail. She was charged with aggravated reckless driving, aggravated fleeing and attempting to elude and three counts of aggravated battery. All of the charges are felonies.
Online court records show Hill also faces one count of driving under the influence of a drug on the same day.
The baby was first checked at a hospital then placed in the custody of the Iowa Department of Human Services.
