Police say the man who drove a stolen semi tractor in a pursuit is the same man who robbed a credit union in Davenport, Iowa.

Elbert Lee Karr Jr., 47, was arrested after he allegedly led state police and sheriff’s deputies on a chase that ended with a crash in Cedar County, Iowa Monday, October 22, 2012.  The semi tractor Karr drove in the pursuit had been reported stolen in Davenport.

The pursuit ended when a Cedar County deputy reportedly used his patrol vehicle to force the semi tractor off the road.

Police now say Karr is the man they think robbed the Family Credit Union at 1400 Rockingham Road earlier that same day.  He allegedly used a note and the threat of a weapon to demand money from the credit union clerk.

Assistant Police Chief Donald Schaeffer said Karr had money from the credit union robbery on him when he was arrested after the pursuit.  Credit union personnel also identified Karr as the robbery suspect.

Carr is charged with one county of second-degree robbery in connection with the credit union heist.  He also faces multiple charges filed by Iowa State Police and Cedar County authorities in connection with the pursuit.

Karr was held in the Cedar County Jail.
