A Quad Cities Chamber of Commerce executive will also volunteer on an Illinois committee dedicated to working to strengthen regional economies near military installations.
Paul Rumler, Executive Vice-President for the chamber, was appointed to by Illinois Lt. Governor Sheila Simon to the Interagency Military Base Support and Economic Development committee Wednesday, October 17, 2012. Rick Kawsneski, executive director of the Joliet Arsenal Development Authority, was also appointed to the committee. Both men received unanimous committee support for their appointments.
Lt. Governor Simon serves as committee chair. She said their job creation experience makes Rumler and Kawsneski ideal choices for the positions on a committee that also advocates for the retention and reuse of Illinois military bases.
“These new members represent a wealth of economic development experience that will bring new perspectives to our work,” said Simon.
Rumler, who is from Coal Valley, attended Black Hawk College in Moline before graduating from Georgia State University and working in Washington for the federal government. He has also served as executive director for the Quad Cities Passenger Rail Coalition and he is currently a member of the Rock Island Arsenal Alliance.
