A Des Moines teacher is recovering after Polk County deputies say a teen driver hit him while texting and driving.
Garton Elementary School teacher John Meyer was hospitalized in serious condition.
Deputies say Meyer was biking along a two lane highway north of Ankeny Friday night when the vehicle hit him from behind. The crash report shows the teen driver at the wheel was sending a text message at the time of the accident.
Deputies haven’t announced any charges against the teen.
