Walkers and runners raised money for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa on Saturday, October 13th.
The non-for-profit organization grants wishes to children with life-threatening illnesses. Organizers say all the proceeds from Saturday's "Walk/Run For Wishes" stay in the Iowa Quad Cities, Muscatine, and Clinton areas.
"It's all about raising money for the kids," says Kevin Wolfe, Wish Granter with the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa. "The average wish costs about $8,500 to send their family on the wish and a lot of families will tell you it's a life-turning moment in their child's treatment."
Wolfe says many people were unable to make Saturday's run because of the rain. The Make-A-Wish Foundation of Iowa's biggest fundraiser of the year, the Annual Riverbend Gala, takes place at the Isle of Capri Casino in Bettendorf on February 4th.
